Creating Your First Quote

Creating Your First Quote

Step-by-step guide to building and customising a professional quote.

Create a new quote

Click New Quote from the dashboard or the Quotes list. You'll be taken to the quote builder.

Fill in the basics

Client — Select an existing client or type a name to create a new one on the fly.

Quote number — Auto-generated, but you can customise the format in Settings → Quotes.

Title — A short description of the work (e.g. "Website Redesign — Acme Corp").

Expiry date — Optional. Clients can't accept an expired quote.

Add line items

Each line item has:

  • Name — What you're selling
  • Description — Optional detail (supports Markdown)
  • Quantity
  • Unit price
  • Tax rate — Applied per item

Click Add item to add more rows. Drag items to reorder them.

Using the item library

Click Add from library to insert items you've saved previously. This saves time when you sell the same products or services repeatedly.

AI line item generation

On the Business plan, you can click Generate with AI and describe the project in plain English. QuoteCrest will suggest a list of line items for you to review and edit.

Add terms & conditions

Scroll to the Terms section and select a template or type your own. Terms can include payment conditions, warranties, and project scope. You can manage templates in Settings → Quotes.

Preview before sending

Click Preview to see exactly what your client will see. The preview reflects all items, totals, and your branding.
